Easy Halloween Crafts for Kids

Easy Halloween Crafts for Kids

This year I kept the spooky crafts low maintenance! We are in a short term rental while in between homes so all of our craft supplies is packed away. I was able to whip these up with minimal supplies. Target had a combo pack of pipe cleaners, Pom poms, and googley eyes that covered most of my extras.

Supplies:

  • plain paper plates

  • watercolors and/or tempura paint sticks

  • scissors

  • stapler

  • glue and/or tape

  • pipe cleaners

  • googley eyes

  • optional: pom poms, sequence, glitter glue, string

Hanging Spider:

Paint the outside of two paper plates. Staple eight pipe cleaners around the edge of the unpainted side of one paper plate. Then staple a string between the legs. Glue eyes on the colorful side of the other paper plate. Staple or glue the paper plates together.

Jack O Lantern:

Paint the inside of a paper plate and decorate the face. You can add a stem, leaves, and tendrils too. I used a mix and match sticker set for the face to make this one even easier.

Monster:

Paint the inside of two paper plates different colors. Cut ears or horns out of one color and cut the center circle out of the center circle for the body. Glue the ears and eyes on the monster. Using a new plate cut teeth out and glue them inside the monster’s mouth.

Bat:

Paint the inside of two paper plates the same color. Decorate one plate as the face. Create wings by cutting the edge off the second plate and then cutting it in half, I used a zigzag line. Glue the wings on the back, and a string if you want it to “fly”.

Scaredy Cat:

Paint the outside of a paper plate. Cut a rainbow shape out of the center. I gently folded my plate in half to make it even. This creates the cat’s back arch. Using the paper scrap cut a circle for the cat’s head. Decorate the face before gluing it to the body. I ran out of scrap so I had to repaint another plate for the ears and tail.

Mummy:

Glue eyes to the center of a paper plate. Wrap the plate in pipe cleaners using tape to secure them to the back. I glued another paper plate to the back to keep the pipe cleaners together because they were having trouble staying put. Another option would be to use skinny long strips of colorful paper and glueing the ends to the back. Glue Eyes to the center of a paper plate.
